Well-being is important for positive functioning and a sense of being at peace.
There are many aspects to well-being and as a church, we want to support people in improving their sense of well-being.
Part of becoming the person you’re meant to be means understanding your strengths and areas for development and working out where those can fit both in work and at home/leisure. At United church, we can help you discover more about yourself.
Contact us if you’d like a one to one vocational chat, or if you’d be interested we can run a Shape course.
If you want to find out about vocations advice from the Chelmsford Diocese of the Church of England please visit their website.
We run three gentle 5k runs a week at 7:00am on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning starting and finishing outside the war memorial/old administration building on the Kingswood Heath/Severalls/Forest View estate.
Please contact us in advance to confirm that the run is happening.
If walking is more your thing then see the emotional/mental health section for details of a regular mindfulness walk.
Parenting is a bit like riding a roller coaster – sometimes life seems smooth and steady and you feel like you know what’s coming next and then there is a sudden unexpected drop – it takes your breath away and you’re just trying to survive and wondering when or if this ‘phase’ will end.
If you know what this feels like then we are looking at running parenting courses where you can meet and find other parents that are going through what you are and where we can together discover tools to help us be good enough parents to our children.
Please contact us to express an interest in parenting courses.
Relationships make the world go around or something like that. They are not always straightforward though and whether you want someone to listen confidentially or want to do something like a marriage preparation course (for those planning to marry) or marriage course for those already married then please give us a shout.
The NHS recommends 5 simple steps to improve our mental health.
Being fulfilled at work is important for our well-being but that is not always the case. In our experience as a vocation advisor, working in HR and recruitment, counselling training and conducting MSc research into workplace culture and stress we can help on an emotional and practical level.
Maybe you need someone to listen to you, or want to re-explore your strengths, update your CV or even have interview practice. Please contact us for help to arrange one of these.
Using our creativity and working with our hands, on our own or alongside others has been shown to aid well-being. These simple, adult-child crafts are things you can do at home so why not watch one of our short videos below for some ideas.
Further craft and prayer activities are often incorporated into our weekly videos which you can find here.
